What is Thespian Society?

The International Thespian Society (ITS) is the Educational Theatre Association's student honorary organization. ITS recognizes the achievements of high school and middle school theatre students. Since 1929, EdTA has inducted more than 2 million Thespians into ITS.

How do I Join?

In the ITS, the things you do in theatre calculate into points. The amount of hours you spend working on a show give you points. So, the more shows, the more points! You need at least 10 points to be a thespian. Now, how do you get these points?

If you have done theatre before (such as community theatre) outside of school, you can get up to 5 points for participating in those shows! When doing a school play, you can get your points redeemed at the end of the semester.

Scroll to the bottom of the page to fill out your points on the Thespian Point Record Form and use the Point System Sheet as a guide!

You can get more points for being a lead or doing technical things in your drama program! It's not too difficult to get 10 points, and once you do, you can become an official thespian! (so exciting, right?!) If you're a thespian, you can go to...

ThesCon!

The Georgia Thespian Conference features numerous productions presented by high schools from throughout the state that are available to watch to students. Plus, you'll be able to participate in a variety of workshops led by theater professionals from around the country. And if that weren't enough, you also can perform or view individual performance and tech events, audition for scholarships, talk to college representatives from around the country, shop with commercial vendors selling theater merchandise, and hang out with 5,000 other Georgia Thespians.
